UPDATE: the way to happiness.org

See my original post HERE

I told you that I had sent away for their free information packet, well I got it. When I opened it, it read like a Scientology spiel. It was, when I got to the back cover there was L. Ron Hubbard’s name. They are falsely claiming that they are NOT a religion so that their religion can be introduced into the work place and schools. My kids have been told that if it comes to their schools they have my permission to walk out of the presentation. What they teach is not all bad but the way they present it and the hypocrisy in what they teach and the way they demonstrate it is problematic.

They tout 21 steps to happiness and several of these steps and they way they present them are diametrically apposed to their steps.

They are:
1. Take care of yourself
2. Be Temperate
3. Don’t be Promiscuous
4. Love and Help Children
5. Honor and Help Your Parents
6. Set a Good Example
7. Seek to Live with the Truth
8. Do Not Murder
9. Don’t Do Anything Illegal
10. Support a Government Designed and Run for All the People
11. Don’t harm a Person of Good Will
12. Safeguard and Improve Your Environment
13. Do Not Steal
14. Be Worthy of Trust
15. Fulfill Your Obligations
16. Be Industrious
17. Be Competent
18. Respect the Religious Beliefs of Others
19. Try Not to Do Things to Others That You Would Not Like Them To Do To You
20. Try To Treat I Others As You Would Want Them To Treat You
21. Flourish and Prosper

Sounds great and benign right?

BUT

Their little videos of these 21 steps seem not to follow their own rules.

Examples of this are:

#3 Don’t be Promiscuous

This one is interesting because it seems to break many of their 21 rules. It shows in every case the man as the cheater (which breaks rule #7. Seek to Live with the Truth). They also show in every case a woman abusing a man either by striking him or kneeing him in the groin (which breaks rules #6. Set a Good Example, #9. Don’t Do Anything Illegal, #10. [loosely] Support a Government Designed and Run for All the People, #14. Be Worthy of Trust, #19. Try Not to Do Things to Others That You Would Not Like Them To Do To You, and
#20. Try To Treat I Others As You Would Want Them To Treat You. Things that make you say hmmmm.

I also like #18. Respect the Religious Beliefs of Others. They state that they are not a religion so their agenda can be used in schools and the work place. Hmmm again I thought that Scientology was a religion and to force feed people of a captive audience is not moral or ethical. Furthermore, by stating that they are not a religion breaks rule #’s 4. Love and Help Children, 6. Set a Good Example, 7. Seek to Live with the Truth, 9. Don’t Do Anything Illegal, 10. Support a Government Designed and Run for All the People, 14. Be Worthy of Trust, 17. Be Competent
18. Respect the Religious Beliefs of Others, 19. Try Not to Do Things to Others That You Would Not Like Them To Do To You
20. Try To Treat I Others As You Would Want Them To Treat You.

All in all it seems to me that they have a malignant agenda and can not remember their own rules. It seems that the rule for them is do as I say not as I do. You can view all of their 21 videos at http://www.thewaytohappiness.org/#/videos

You do realize that they stole most if not all the rules from the bible, right? Two thousand year old ideas that have be repackaged and sold as new, wow.
